Laser Fax
How a Laser Fax Works
A laser fax sends and receives documents the same way any fax would - the difference is the way in which it prints. While an inkjet fax sprays dots of ink onto a page to form images and text, a laser fax uses intense light. A laser fax takes several steps to process and print a document:
- The data being received is decoded and sent to the fax's image processor.
- The image processor converts the information into a graphic image and sends it to the fax's memory.
- The laser beam is activated and triggered by the data stored in the laser fax's memory and shines light onto the fax's revolving photocell, passing through a series of mirrors to ensure accuracy.
- The photocell rolls over the paper and toner.
- The paper passes through the laser fax's fuser, which bonds the toner particles to the paper.
- The document prints.
A laser fax produces clear, crisp monochrome text and images and is most successful in the business or office environment.
